Battle Royale Online Round 3 Narrative:  (Fall '05)

The school bus was dead silent. Professor Dayton walked down the center aisle to see if any of the students were still concious. One by one, he glanced at each of the 42 students and made sure they were fast asleep. He didnt like breathing through the gas mask, but it was the only thing saving him from the effects of the sleeping gas that was released into the cabin of the vehicle moments ago. Looking at his watch, he knew that it would be another 5 minutes before the gas would be mostly exhausted from the vents of the bus. He continued to check the students and make sure they were subdued by the gas. As he reached the back of the vehicle he noticed that one of the students, Chris Patterson had sprawled off his seat and was mostly on the floor. He picked the student up from the floor and placed him in a more confortable position in the seat. While he was lifting the student a couple of contents fell from Chris' pocket. The curious professor bent over and picked up a photograph and a charm. The picture showed Chris and another student standing infront of a grand building that was mostly glass. The professor did not recognize the other student in the photo and knew it was not someone that was in the bus. He studied the building in the background and did not know where the two students were located in the picture. He looked at the small charm that rested in the palm of his hand. The charm appeared to be a pair of doves sitting on a branch. The whole charm was a brilliant shimmering gold and the loop that would normally hold it onto a bracely appeared to be broken. He shrugged and quietly put the photo and the charm back into Chris' pocket. This was the first time that the Government had allowed him to ride in the bus with the students as they were being gassed. Usually, he would ride in his sedan and watch from the outside while driving along to their destination. Most of the students were ready to fall asleep anyways, it was very late at night. The sleeping gas was an insurance that the students would not wake while they were being transported to the island. The professor walked along the aisle back to the front of the bus and stopped a few feet short from the front. Something caught his eye and he turned to his right. A student, Daiske Niwa, was resting his head against the glass window. Daiske's mouth was half open and a small bit of drool was oozing off his mouth. The professor turned his attention to the bag in Daiske's lap, a faint red light appeared to be glowing from the bag. He leaned forward and opened the small sack and pulled a small digital voice recorder from the bag. The voice recorder appeared to be on. He stopped the recorder and skipped back to the previous file to play back. The recorder's small speaker echoed Daiske's voice. "---is great! I have been looking forward to this field trip all school year. Kat and I are looking forward to having a great time. Here... uhhhh... lemme give the recorder to---" The professor turned the recorder off. He thought about keeping the recorder. He worried that something bad could get recorded that could jeopardize the integrity of the Battle Royale Survival Program. But, he knew that the only secrets in Battle Royale were the ones kept from the, unsuspecting, students themselves. He slipped the recorder back into Daiske's bag and continued back to the front of the vehicle. He looked at his watch again, it should be safe for him to remove his gas mask and breathe fresh air again. The driver, however, still has his gas mask on. Being cautious, he kept the mask on for a few more minutes and waited for the driver to remove his.

Several hours passed before the bus, finally, pulled into the dockyards. The vehicle and the two military jeeps that were part of the caravan stopped before driving up the ramp onto the ferry. Several soldiers gave the vehicles a quick inspection and then gave clearance for them to load onto the big boat. Professor Dayton was astounded that things were moving so quickly. The proceedure had become so quick and efficient over the years. When all the vehicles were loaded on the ferry, the boat gave a few tugs as the motors fired up. Two soldiers released the dock-restraints and the boat pulled free from landside. It was going to be a couple of hours before they reached the island. The professor decided to visit the captain of the boat to pass time. He walked pulled the handle to release the swinging doors on the bus and walked down the three stairs to exit. He took a deep breath of the sea air and stretched his arms. Several soldiers were nearby drawing their cigarettes and preparing to rest for a few hours. The professor nodded and smiled in their direction and proceeded to the control cabin of the boat. He walked over to the cabin and knocked on the door. He could see inside because it was very well-lit. The captain waved him in. Professor Dayton opened the door and greeted the captain as he stepped inside.

"Good morning." The professor spoke in a friendly tone.

"Heh, yeah, I guess it is morning now. Huh." The captain chuckled.

"I am professor Tehyi Dayton." He announced as he drew his hand forward for a handshake. "I have been enlisted to oversee this round of the Battle Royale Survival Program."

"It's a pleasure. I am Captain Roland Gar. Been at the head of this vessel for almost 20 years." He reached back with one hand for the handshake with his other still on the steering wheel.

"20 years huh? Thats a long time."

"Yeah, 20 years. And I tell you Prof. There are some crazy stories to tell about the waters over those 20 years."

The professor smiled. He braced himself for a long trail of stories from the captain.

"Mind if I grab some coffee?" The professor asked.

"Suit yourself."

He walked over to the corner of the cabin and drew the coffee pot from it's home. The pot was still warm, but he did not know how old the contents were. He didnt care. The first clean cup nearby became his new friend and he poured himself a cup of black coffee. He listened as the captain trailed off.

"--- and you would not believe that dame! She was hotter than the core of the sun! and there she was... in the middle of the ocean, outta gas on her boat. I tell you Prof. somedays when you get to be the hero. It's great. Oh! and then there was this time when deck needed to be swabbed and I...----

After hearing hours of tall-tales from the captain, Professor Dayton found the island to be a welcoming sight. He bid farewell and walked out of the cabin. All of the soldiers were preparing to board the jeeps. The professor joined with the driver of the bus and boarded the vehicle. The ferry quickly docked and they all drove onto the island quickly. Driving along the barren road, the driver of the bus pointed out into the distance at some lights. The professor noticed them as well. They were the lights of the School compoud in the distance. It was not long before they reached the school and several of the soldiers stationed at the island met with the caravan and stood near a troop carrier that was parked nearby. All of the vehicles came to a halt near the troop carrier and the soldiers assembled quickly and lined up. Professor Dayton Stepped from the bus and waited for the driver of the bus to join the line of soldiers. The 12 soldiers stood nearly shoulder to shoulder.

The professor stood before the soldiers and commanded their attention.

"Soldiers. You have been trained for many years to this point. You have been selected from the best of the best to given this opportunity to help me oversee the Battle Royale Survival Program. The integrity of this event is a foundation upon how our country is ruled. I must remind you that we command respect and that disrespect will not be tolerated. Your job is to protect the control we have over the event. We cannot lose control and we will not lose control. As several of you already know, the rewards are great for a successful Battle Royale Event. You will all be equally compensated for your services at the end of the event. That is all."

In unison, the soldiers saluted Professor Dayton and awaited orders. The Professor commanded three of the soldiers to the roof of the building. Three other soldiers were told to prepare the control room in the school and the rest of them had to carry the students to the ready room in the school. The soldiers broke loose and began their duties. Professor Dayton walked to the ready room as the soldiers carried the students in from the bus into the school. When he reached the ready room, several of the students had already been placed on the floor of the room and were still sound asleep. The professor stepped to the front of the classroom and placed his briefcase on the front desk. He stood silenly and watched as the soldiers carried the students into the room and placed them on the floor. Some students were placed in chairs and on some of the aged desks that were littered through the classroom. The room was in pretty sad shape. The years of neglect and misuse with the Battle Royale Program made the room look pretty abused. The ceiling tiles were mostly missing, and the few of them that remained were scarred with bullet holes from previous rounds where order had to be made of the group of panik-stricken students. The professor took a moment to write a few things on the blackboard on the wall. The soldiers brought the rest of the 42 students into the room and laid them to the ground in peace. A soldier rolled in a television set with a DVD player and plugged it in nearby Professor Dayton. The Professor ordered the six soldiers to guard near the doorway and be alert when the students were stirred awake. He walked to the front of the desk and leaned against the edge casually. Calmly, he drew a pistol from under his jacket and pointed it toward one of the windows to his right. He stared at the students and pulled the trigger and fired a shot, shattering the glass. Several students raised their heads, alarmed. They looked around confused and turned to their sleepy friends and roused them awake. Han Ju-Wong quickly rose to his feet and stared coldly at the professor.

"What is going on?!" He screamed.

The Professor pointed the gun at Han and ordered him to sit. Han turned his back on the teacher and grabbed a chair to sit on, rather than the floor. Several of the students were still waking up their peers.

"I cannot believe that some of you are still sleeping. You are all lazy!" The professor shouted. He pointed the gun at the windows again and fired another round. The remaining students woke up and several other students grabbed their ears to protect from the deafening gunshot. Two of the girls near the back began to scream as well.

"Now that you are all awake. I would like to have your undivided attention." The Teacher commanded.

"Where are we?" Eli West called from the back.

"That is not important." The teacher answered.

"Have we been kidnapped?" Joshua O'Hanlon asked.

"Dont be a fool!" The Professor shot out. "Can you not read?" He pointed at the chalkboard. "I trust by now you are all familiar with the Battle Royale Act?"

Several of the students gasped after reading the chalkboard for the first time.

"Now... I am not going to waste my time. You have read about Battle Royale. You have heard about Battle Royale. And now... you are Battle Royale. I am going to play a simple video for you that will tell you how things go. Please pay attention. I am not going to play the video again." He instructed.

A soldier pointed a remote at the television and activated the video. A young girl in her 20's announced the rules of Battle Royale. She instructed that each of the students will receive a military bag with a weapon, some food and water, and a map with a pen. The students must scatter onto the island and kill each other off until one student remains. Some of the weapons in the bags are very deadly and others are not as deadly.

Several of the students began to hang their heads in despair and pout.

"What if we refuse to play?" Lenny Jazz shot out.

"Then a studen that wishes to play will probably kill you." Dayton shot back. "Any other questions?"

"What if we escape the island?" Joseph Shepherd asked.

"You cant. If you leave the island before the game is complete. The collar on your neck will explode." Dayton watched as several students noticed the collars on their neck for the first time. "I also have control of your collars as well. If you try anything suspicious, I will detonate the explosives. These explosives are very powerful and will certainly kill you. If you try to take the collar off... It will explode as well. So, just enjoy the collar and pretend it is not there."

"I dont belong here! My father is a very powerful man of a very large corperation!" Keyser Soze announced and stood on his feet.

"Nobody! Is more powerful than the government! We do not care who you father is. You are going to participate." Dayton commanded.

Keyser clenched his jaw and threw his fist out in the dirction of the teacher. He turned his back and sat down facing the opposite direction.

"Now. Since you are all on the same page. I am going to call out your names one by one and you must come up here and grab your survival bag. You will then exit the school and seek refuge on the island." Dayton instructed.

"Student number One! Joshua O'Hanlon."

Joshua stood up slowly. He looked around at his classmates and ran his fingers through his hair in despair. He raised his hand up in a gesture of "goodbye" and began to walk towards the Professor. Choosing not to look directly at the professor he walked to the doorway and and caught the, olive colored, military bag that was thrown at him. He shot one last glance of the class before he exited the room and sprinted down the hallway.

"Student number Two! Dante Prescott."

Several of the girls in the class began to whimper when Dante's name was called. The Professor guessed that Dante must have been popular in the class and it probably shocked the girls to think of him prepareing to kill or be killed. Dante stood up and defiantly stared at the professor. He clenched his fist and looked around at his classmates. Without speaking a word, he broke into a sprint, caught his bag and exited the room.

One by one... the professor called out the names of the students. He called out for Nick, Marla, Joseph, and Lenny. They all grabbed their bags and departed. Daiske and Kyo also left the room without conflict when called. When Charlie was called she did not respond.

"Charlie Atkins!" The professor called again. None of the students stood or moved. "Charlie. Where is Charlie?" He asked. Several of the students pointed to a girl that was sitting in the corner calmly reading a book and taking some notes. The professor walked over to the girl and questioned her. "Do you realize the severity of this situation?"

"Yes." She responded bluntly, without looking at the professor.

"You will take your bag and leave this room at once." Professor Dayton Commanded.

"Fine. I have several exams next week and I will be dam*ed if your silly government game is going to prevent me from passing them." She folded her notes within the book and packed it away. She stood up and faced the professor. He was amazed at how tall the girl was and how their eyes almost met at the same height. "You think it is the kids that need to grow up and mature? That is where you are wrong. It is truely the government that needs to grow up and quit playing these games." She took a deep breath and marched away to the door. The soldier gently tossed the bag to her as she walked by him to leave the classroom.

Professor Dayton shook his head and returned to his post at the front of the room. He called out the names of Chris, Tom, Roman, Brian, and Taki. They all took their bags and left the room. Chase, Johnathan, Keyser, and Soliel all followed suit as well. The professor called for Kim Johnson and was met with a dead silence. "Kim Johnson!" He called again. After a moments wait, a girl stood up in the room and stared directly at the professor. She held a pen in her fist and marched toward the teacher with fire in her eyes.

"These are my friends..." She spoke. "If i have to kill any of them to survive this game... I will come for you if i win." She passed her glare of rage to the soldier at the door and caught her bag as it was thrown to her. She then marched out of the room.

"Student numb-" The Professor was interrupted by a bellowing scream. He turned his attention to the doorway and a soldier appeared in the door. He had a pen half-embedded in the side of his leg and leaned to the side to keep his body weight on his good leg.

"Sir! She stabbed me with a pen. Sir!" The soldier called out.

"Go remedy that with the med kit soldier!" The professor ordered. He tried hard to bite his toungue and not laugh at the incompetence of the soldier. "Student number 20! Eisaku Yamakami." He continued. Eisaku stood up quickly and sprinted to get his bag. When he received his bag he paused for a moment to feel the weight of the bag and seemed to smile for a quick moment. He swung the bag over his shoulder and left the room. The professor called out several more students, Tohno, Rose, and Candi left the room without incident. He called for Vincent and waited as the student stood up and said goodbye to some of his classmates. Vincent hustled, with a limp, to get his bag and leave. When the bag was thrown at him, he fumbled it for a moment and then regained his footing and left the room. "Alright, We are on a roll here. Student number 25, Mcguire Diehl." Mcguire stood up and clasped his hands together. He flexed his hands abnormally to make the bones crack under the pressure and walked toward the teacher. Professor Dayton noticed a necklace hanging around the student's neck. It was a silver chain with a pendant hanging on it. The pendant was in the shape of a human body with long hair holding a hatchet. The professor wondered what the pendant symbolized. Without issue, Mcguire received his bag and left the room.

Several more students were called and departed, Eli, Colton, Jordan, Oshii, Kat, Han, Kenji, Noelle, Destri, Matthew, Ulag, and Yashin. Five students were left in the room. The professor called out the next student Les Lo Pan. Cautiously, Les stood his ground and looked around him. He appeared to be amazed that it was happening so quickly. He walked over to the soldier and recieved his bag. For a moment he held the bag and stared at it in disbelief.

"If I win..." He spoke quietly. "Can I go home and pretend nothing happened?"

"You can go home. But you wont be able to pretend nothing happened."

"Why not?"

"The media has overblown the Battle Royale Program. If you win... your homeland will think of you as a celebrity. It will be difficult to leave everything behind."

"Then maybe... I wont go home..." Les' words trailed off into silence and he calmly left the room.

"Student number 39. Irish Ryan." Irish stood up and quickly left the room after receiving his bag. Erik, Tommie, and Mario quickly left as well. They did not want to be waiting in the empty room for long.

The Professor walked to the rear of the room and opened a closet door. The closet was dark as a moonless night. He spoke to the darkness, "Ok, are you ready Kishu?" From the dark closet a figure appeared.

"'bout as ready as I was last time." Kishu Heisuke responded. He straightend his jacket and looked at the professor with a grin.

"You were very effective in your previous Battle Royale Event. We want you to do the same and the rewards will be great." Professor Dayton instructed.

"It is good to be back." Kishu continued to grin.

"If you survive this round... The government will drop all criminal charges against you. Understood?"

"Yeah."

"Get out there." The Professor commanded.

Kishu took off like a bolt of lightning and took his bag. He ran down the hallway at full throttle.

The Professor ordered the soldiers to the control room. They all gathered in the controlroom. Pvt Higgins was still tending to his pen-inflicted wound when the the rest of the crew arrived. One soldier took post at the doorway and another posted near the windows. Professor Dayton walked over to the control wall and looked at the series of monitors that tracked the students movments with the GPS units embedded in their collars. He looked at several of the monitors that showed views from hidden cameras located throughout the island. He focused on the monitor that showed current events outside the school.

"The battle has begun." He spoke softly to himself.

"Bastards".

Han Ju-wong did not run nor hide after he gotout. He
was a loner, after all, and he did not care if
somebody kills him right at that moment. His mind was
off the island. He remembers the songs he used to
write and sing, the successful gigs he has played in,
and the fun he used to share with his old band, The
Motox. He thinks about what could have happened if
they were still together. He would not be here at all.

He sang under his breath while walking without a sense
of direction. "Listen I'm fine now, listen I'm fine
now..."

He absentmindedly opened his bag and reached in for
anything that could be there. He felt cold metal,
something somewhat long. He saw it clearly under the
radiant moonlight. It was a crowbar. And he didn't
quite care at that moment. His mind was still off the
island.

His thoughts flashed back to the only person he was
ever attached to--Mindy. He called her Mindy and she
called him Jack. His brain was filled with thoughts of
their past: eating cotton candy while walking down the
street, crying together at the pond, watching the moon
and the stars, their promise of "forever". He thought
of killing himself and seeing if heaven is for real,
and if he could somehow relive their moments there.

While he walked indefinitely, thinking about those
things, students rushed passed him and some bumped
into him. He still did not care.

Then he realized he was there to find resolution. He
had to get out of there alive. When he does, he'll
come back and find Mindy, and tell her he needs her.
He will form another band and continue pursuing his
passion for music.

"Mindy, this is for you."

Joshua stopped dead at the end of the corridor. He stepped meekly from the door of the school and surveyed the area before him. Being the first student meant he hadn't had much time to get take in what was happening. He remembered seeing news reports about Battle Royale, but his gran had always attempted to keep specific details about it from him saying he'd had enough hurt and pain in his life already. Still he had heard rumours about it in the school corridors and knew the basic idea behind the murder game. Suddenly a picture came to his mind, one he had seen a long time ago; the winner of the first ever Battle Royale. It was an image he was unlikely ever to forget and he thought to himself for a second whether living would be worth if it meant becoming like her. He quickly shook that thought from his mind, he had so much to live for.

He heard footsteps behind him and suddenly remembered where he was. He dived into a bush and waited quietly to see what would happen. Dante, the second student appeared and Joshua saw him look into his bag. He had forgotten about the package he had received and the promise of a weapon it contained. He saw Dante pull out a tire iron and look disappointed as Joshua too opened his bag and felt the same emotion. He had received an mp3 player as his defence method and not a particularly good one at that. Joshua heard more movement from the school building and looked up to see Dante poised and ready to attack. It was Nick who followed from the corridor and Dante only just managed to stop himself from killing his best friend. The sight of Dante ready to kill made Josh uneasy. He had always had great respect for both Dante and Nick and the idea that either were ready to play this game was one he was not ready for. The best friends hurried off together and Joshua decided he too should move on to decide what he was going to do. All of a sudden he realised - Rose and Candi - he must meet them! He looked at his map and knew instantly where they would go.

'That's the one' he said to himself, 'The Amusement Park'

Dante Prescott was the second student to be called from the classroom. He knew this could be of great use to him. He could wait outside with his weapon and attack the people who came out of the school after him. It would be easy. He would just wait by the door and then dispatch the next person to come out.

As Dante walked down the corridor he looked at the grim face soldiers. They were there to make sure none of the students would go back to the classroom and eliminate Professor Dayton, no doubt. Dante walked along and felt through his duffel bag. In the darkness his hand wrapped around something cold and hard. He pulled it out and examined it. His supplied weapon was a tire iron.

Dante looked at it balefully. A tire iron? He wanted something that could get out there and touch someone, a gun, a crossbow, something other than a tire iron.

Dante exited the building into the breezeway. Where would be a good place to lie in wait for the attack? Dante spotted some bushes near the breezeway and darted behind them. He wasn’t sure if he could be seen and he Dante knew that the bush would offer no protection from flying bullets.

Dante counted the seconds in his head. He was so psyched up that he couldn’t even remember who would be coming out of the school after him. A figure came out of the school. Dante leaped forward brandishing his tire iron. “S***!” Nick Taylor shouted.

Dante recognized that it was Nick and stopped short. Nick was his best friend. Dante was about to bludgeon his best friend. “Oh my God, Nick! I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to. I was so scared!” Dante stammered.

Dante was crying now. He was so ashamed. He was usually calm and well restrained. He was pretty popular among his classmates and he had many friends. Dante had only cried in front of Nick once before when Dante’s mother had died of cancer.

Dante felt even more ashamed when he saw the look on Nick’s face. It was a look of pity. Dante felt so heartbroken by the look that Nick had given him. “I forgive you Dante,” Nick said placing his hand on his friend’s shoulder.

“You can forgive me for just trying to kill you?” Dante asked.

“Yeah, of course. Dante, we’re all under a lot of pressure here. Anyway, I’d rather have you try to kill me than someone else,” Nick said with a laugh. “Now, let’s get out of here. I have a plan.”

As Dante followed Nick, he was reflecting on his life. He was an average student at school. He played on the basketball team at which he was a moderate player. Dante was also fairly attractive. He had a nice frame and was slightly muscular. His hair lay just over his turquoise eyes giving him an alluring mystique. Dante was also a charmer with a boyish half smile that seemed to shine with the light of his personality.

“Nick?” Dante asked.

“Huh?” Nick asked in a hushed whisper.

“I’m glad we’re such good friends,” Dante said with a heartfelt smile despite the dire circumstances.

Irish Ryan, he would have used a real name if he actually knew it. His last name is a mystery even to him. Ryan was his first name, but Irish was the name he made for himself because of his hair color. When he thought his time was well past him to be adopted, he left the orphanage and has been living on the streets for the past five years. He fed and clothed himself by stealing only what he needed, which he did not consider a sin. Because he had to do this, he became very good at having a good sense of his surroundings. Stealing was his main hobby aside from going to school. He only talked to a few people in his class, and those who did not talk to him would just walk by without looking. Looking at his living situation before, he was thinking that it might not be so bad considering his current situation.

As Irish sat in the back and watched his classmates leave one by one, he thought it was fitting that he would once again be by himself in the back of class. For other people, waiting this long might have made them go crazy, but not Irish. He knew the only way out, and he was at ease with that no matter what it meant he had to do. Before his name was called, he tried to get a sense of how everyone was thinking to determine who he would have to target to survive. He also noticed the closet that he was standing next to was closed with a lock on it. He wasn't stupid, only things of value have locks over it. Since there was nothing of value in this particular room, he knew that something was wrong (aside from his current situation).

When his name was called, he ran up to get his weapon but stopped to look back. Irish looked into his teacher's eyes and said,"I know someone is in there, and I'll be the one to kill him." He smiled and ran out. He walked outside to see if anybody was around, but everybody left. He hid by a nearby bush and peered inside his bag to see a cricket bat. He was pleased with this, he knew his chances of being taken down by someone without a gun had greatly decreased. He then put his hand into his pocket only to notice that there was a piece of paper inside. Puzzled, he quickly realized how this note ended up in his pocket. It read- Not much time, we should have been there by now. We need to go through this together. Meet me outside by the starting point, then.........

Whoever wrote this probably was sitting by a window on the bus that brought them here. This person probably didn't finish when he noticed that he was feeling sleepy. Irish already knew who wrote this note, he turned around only to notice a dark silhouette standing next to him. He looked and smiled as he knew this was the mystery writer who sat next to him on the bus. As they were walking off, Irish said,"So, when do you plan to kill me?" The response was,"When we are the only two remaining." "Good enough for me", Irish said. The two walked off talking of their stragegy.

So, he thought to himself, this is it. The real deal. No escape now. Only way to escape is to win. Having left the school, he checked his bag behind the safety of a tree. He saw the glint of metal and pulled out a Machete. He grinned and chuckled to himself. Well, it wasn't the worst weapon in the world and perhaps the slicing of flesh could be satisfying. He returned the Machete to his bag and climbed the tree, hiding himself amongst the branches. Yes, thought Ulag, this will be an experience

As Kyo walked out the class he quickly reached into his bag and saw that his weapon was two grenades he then thought "I have to go meet up with Eli" He then rushed looking for Eli.

Oshii Miike watched as Student #28, Jordan Or left the room. He honestly wasn't sure what he was thinking. The odds of being dragged into a game like this, if one could call it a game. Just what was he supposed to think? How could any one of them hold a rational thought in their head.

They were going to kill each other. He couldn't let that happen to him. He refused to.

"#28 Oshii Miike!" called out Proffesor Dayton, awaking Oshii from his thoughts.

"What choice do I have," he mumbled to himself as he stood up in acknowledgment.

"None."

Oshii looked around searching for the speaker. Nothing but blank hollow faces stared back. He shook his head and stepped up to the front of the classroom. With a grim nod he took up the field pack and left the room. He smiled at the wounded guard, the pen still jutting from the leg. He clutched the pack tightly in his hands and stepped out into the hallway.

Once outside the nightmarish building of a school, he opened up the pack. Inside were basic supplies, some food, water, a map, and a compass. Underneath the map rested a pellet gun and several packages of pellets.

"So many," he said into the night and looked at the map. He looked at the weapon in his hand. It was light in his hand. Light and yet heavy.

He looked at the map once more. He needed a plan and someplace to think and let the shock wear off. He put everything back into the bag and zipped it back up. He looked up at the stars, hoping for some sense of the time. A thought flased into his head.

"My phone," he shouted out and reached into his pocket. He could call her, tell her to get help for him. An ambassador, something. He pulled out the phone and pressed the on button.

Nothing happened. He tried again. Nothing. In frustration he threw the phone into the woods. It clattered against a tree.

He began to run into the distance. It wasn't safe here. He needed to live. He had to.

"Student number 25, Mcguire Diehl." Mcguire stood up and clasped his hands together.

He immediatly tore open his bag to find a Steyr TMP Machine Pistol. Not as bloody and gruesome a weapon as he would have liked, but maybe more dangerous. A gun with unlimited ammo, now he can really do some damage.

He wasn't nervous; he new how this game worked, his older brother had been in it 5 years ago. He hadn't won, but he had come close. But Mcguire was smarter and stronger then his brother, and knew he could win.

A smile crawled onto his face as he walked out of the building. Unlike most of these kids out here, he had actually killed someone before. He knew many kids might hesitate before actually trying to commit murder, while he would waste no such time on hesitation. He had spent the last 5 years, ever since his brother died, training; running, building strength, target practice with guns, throwing knifes, even defensive measures with a pot lid.

Not anxious or worried, he casually walks into the trees and climbs up one, waiting for the person he decides to kill first. Even though he might die, in his heart, he wants to go after the most dangerous person, besides himself of course.

As he sits in the tree, he holds the pendant and stares at it, knowing it will give in strength in what is to come

Yashin waited nervously in the back of the classroom at the old school, knowing his number was next to be called. "Student #37, Yashin". He tensed up knowing no matter how frightened he was, the sooner he gets his day pack the sooner he can discover his weapon and be on his way. Professor Dayton threw the duffel bag at Yashin and Yashin quickly took off outside of the school, he only ran about 20 feet and hid by a tree and a couple bushes so he could check what weapon he had recieved, he was shocked to find a stun gun! He guessed it could be useful against some students, but he also realized it would be best to try to avoid encountering students with guns as there weapon. He packed the stun gun pack into his duffle bag and took off, because he knew the area was not safe. Before he left he had managed to get the attention of a couple of his friends in the classroom and had signaled to them where to meet him at after they left the school. They had all left way before him, so he could only hope they made it safely. He checked his map to see where the location was, ah now the long walk...

Boy #6 - Taki Inamoto". Taki slowly rose to his feet, still praying that this was all a dream. This wasn't supposed to happen, he was supposed to live and long and free life, but no, not now. He staggered over to a soldier who tossed him his bag, he then took a last look at the class who, soon enough, he would be forced to kill, and walked out the door. As he walked the corridor leading to the exit of the school and the beginning of the end he pondered many things. What would happen on this island, who he would kill, or, who he would be killed by.
So many thoughts racing through his head he walked out, he knew his only hope of possibly escaping this island/staying alive for as long as possible were to join up with his friends. He sighed as he remembered a line a man had told him - "BATTLE ROYALE WHERE FRIENDS BECOME ENEMIES". Taki slouched into a nearbuy bush and checked his bag. He pulled out a pipe wrench, "Useful" he though. He then stored his pipe wrench back in his bag and set off. So many things not done, so many things not said, but it was too late, soon enough the game would begin, as would the end of his life.

He picked up his bag and fleed into the darkness in search of his friends...

Matthew was ready when the professor called for him. With a steady pace he got up from his sit and proceed to the man. It was show time for him, Matthew had no desire to live, yet had no intention of dieing, he was the guy who didnt give a *beep* anymore. Society made him that way, to be a void of emotions. He longed for the sweet tone of Eva's voice, her company.... her love. He could remember the very day when she left him, and the world.......

Matthew snapped back to attention as the Professor called for his name the forth time. He found himself standing next to the bastard, and just staring at the ceiling of that damn class room. Soldier armed their rifles knowing what Matthew might be thinking of doing.
Dayton smirked. The young man grab his bag of "toys", it was little, a good sign. He proceeded out of the classroom into the mouth of fate itself. He did not know how far he walked, but he could still make out small features of the building he was in before.

Matthew's mind filled up with chaos, a maze of endless anger and sadness. He looked down and the toy he was given, brass knuckles. He knew what these things can do.

"Crap!"

Matthew look closer at the duffle bag, nothing.

"Who the *beep* comes up with these stuff?" He was angry, annoyed, he had almost every emotion inside of him, but not fear. Matthew always repeated this line when he was afraid, it was from a book he always wanted to read, but never did, he almost regret it too. Matthew fit the brass knuckles perfectly and repeated the lines over and over. "I must not fear. Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it is past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

"Who is this? And how did you reach me?" said Josh at other end of the line

"It's Brian Lee, and I'm part of Yashin's group. He's the guy who told you where to meet after you met up with your friends. Don't ask about how I managed to contact you."

"Yeah. Listen, I've found my friends and we're heading off to the amusement park to find supplies, and anything useful we can get our hands on."

"Well we're heading off to the lighthouse for the same purpose. By the way, who are your friends, are what they armed with?" I replied

"I've got 2 other people in our group. Rose Macintosh and Candi Heathwood. Rose's has a pistol, and Candi has a sword."

"What's the make and model of Rose's pistol?"

"Let's see......... It's a Glock 21"

What the hell? could that be MY Glock that got confiscated?

"Listen, tell Rose to give you the Glock a minute or so."

"Why?" asked Josh

"Just do it."

"Okay, I got the Glock, what do you want me to do"

Knowing that Josh might not be up to speed in terms of guns, I'll have to tell him one of the easy-to-identify custom parts that I put on my Glock.

"First off, what color are the sights?"

"Uh, red. why?"

Okay, not my Glock.

"Never mind, just checking. Later"

I ended the call and turned to Yashin. "Just found out who Josh's friends are. They're Rose and Candi, do you know them?"

"I don't think so. Hey, if you could call Josh without incident, can I borrow that for a sec?"

I handed over the cell phonee and Yashin began to dial a number I didn't recognized "That's Eli's number" he replied.

Eli had decided to camp outside the school yard to take out anyone who didn't want to play the game with his Nambu.

"Hey Eli, it's Yashin. How's the situation on your end?......Okay,......what? who's this guy your meeting?.......okay, bye."

He hanged up and turned towards me, "Eli says that most, if not all, of the students are moving away from the school, but he still see those who refuse to play the game. He met up with a guy named Kyo Matsumoto."

"What's he carrying?"

"M61 Frag Grenades"

"Hope we don't run into the recieving end of those, what else?"

"They're going to meet us and Josh's group in a couple of hours. For now, let's keep going. By the way, thanks for lending me your cell."

Dissapointed, McGuire was alone on his hex. He had hoped to start off the game nice an bloody, with a kill under his belt. There will be no attacking, no stalking. With nothing else to do, Mcguire decides to sleep and save his strength until the oppurtunity arises to attack. Maybe someone will try to sneak up on him during the night and make the fatal mistake of trying to attack him.

After talking, Irish and Tommie knew that with their weapons they would be able to survive fairly long as long as they played it smart. As they were walking, Tommie asked,"So what would you have done if I wasn't able to find you?" Irish answered,"I would have found the best spot at the starting sector to hide, then I would have killed everyone I saw as a threat until I was finally done for good." Tommie replied,"So I am the only reason why you did not join the ritual suicide with the other fifteen people back there?" "Yeah, when I read the note I realized that we ought to fight to make sure one of us leaves alive. Until then, I was going to kill whoever I saw as a threat," Irish said.

Suddenly, he looked to the distance to see that there was someone hiding in the sector that he and Tommie were going to lay low at. *beep* this guy has a nail gun. What do you want to do?" Irish said. Tommie replied,"I don't know, if we can sneak up on him we can probably take him. But maybe he would want to join." Irish looked at Tommie and questioned his motives. He then asked, "So you think we should just team up with some random guy that probably wants to kill us?" Tommie shot back,"No, but having a guy with a nail gun as an ally would increase our combined chances to make it to the end. We should at least try and ask." Irish was almost ready to laugh, but he realized that combined they would be a very tough alliance to take down. He then said,"Fine, I'll go in and ask. I want you to wait by a nearby tree, if he tries anything on me then you had better attack him. If he refuses to join us then we will have to attack him as well. Alright?" "Alright," Tommie answered.

Irish spent the next couple of minutes sneaking up to get close. When he saw that he was very close, he looked to his 10 o'clock to see that Tommie was also poised to attack as well as he hid behind a tree. Then Irish did what he thought was the dumbest thing he could do in this situation, he started to walk over to this person intending to talk instead of kill. He then replied,"Damn am I glad that I volunteered to talk to this guy."

Laying alone in his hex, Mcguire has had alot of time to think. Maybe it is best that he's not in the middle of a suicide mission. Maybe he should try to take it easy untill the last possible moment. Maybe he should try to find some friends and make an alliance. His dad had only won because he hid in a tree until only two people were left, then he jumped out and flung in hatchet into someone's head. But who can he trust in this game.....

“You don’t have to do this Dante,” Nick whispered.

Dante felt that he had to do this to make up for nearly bludgeoning Nick at the start of the game. The way Nick had explained it was perfect. People trusted Dante anyway. Naturally, they would listen to him.

Nick and Dante crouched in the shadows near the school. They saw many of the students run from the school. Some of the students looked terrified, others
looked all too pleased. Other students walked away slowly. It seemed that they were hiding the shadows as well. It was to some of these students that Dante and Nick hoped to draw out.

They would be the protesters. Those students wouldn’t want to fight. They would want to band together and fight the system. These students would listen to what Dante had to say.

Summoning all his courage, Dante climbed atop a large rock. “Hey everyone! Come here! We don’t want to fight. There is no need to fight each other. We’ll fight against the system!” Dante yelled.

Dante knew this was insane. He was making himself an open target for anyone to shoot at, but he knew that he had to take some risks. “Get down you moron!”
someone shouted at him.

Dante didn’t see the person but he recognized the voice. It was Chris Patterson. Chris didn’t want Dante to get hurt. “Chris come out. We don’t want to fight. This game is evil. It’s me, Dante! Trust me!”

Chris emerged from the shadows. He was warily holding a pistol. Chris was looking around. Chris was suspicious. Nicks plan wouldn’t work if there were
only a few of them. When Chris came close enough Dante hissed to him, “Get behind the boulder. Hide with Nick!”

Dante shouted again. Now several of the students were coming from behind trees and from the shadows. Some of them were smiling. They had hope in what Dante had to offer. “What’s the plan Dante?” someone asked.

Dante couldn’t identify who had asked the question from the large mass of students congregating before him. “Now Nick,” Dante hissed.

In the pale light it could hardly be seen. A small orb made an arc through the air and landed amongst the students before the boulder. Some of the students recognized it. Others had no idea what had landed at
their feet. A couple people actually leaned in closer to get a better look.

Nick had thrown a grenade into the group of students gathered in front of the rock. That had been his plan all along. Nick knew that people would trust Dante. They would come to him for an answer. People would never expect Dante to have pulled a trick like that. Nick and Dante had betrayed everyone's trust.

Nick had a point, though when he was explaining everything to Dante. There was no way to escape the game. There would only be one winner. To ensure that the winner would be one of their group, they had to make sure everyone was dead. The trick now, was to get teammates now that they had given people a reason not to trust them.

When the grenade exploded, another grenade was thrown. People had begun to fight. Chris jumped out from behind the rock and fired a shot with his pistol. Nick and Dante agreed that no one could leave the school area alive. It was the only way for one of them to escape the game. "Nobody gets out alive," Dante whispered to himself as he jumped into the fray below him.

Josh had been pacing up and down the amusement park for over an hour waiting for Rose and Candi. He admired the rollercoaster that stood before him and thought about how much fun it would have been to take a ride, had the circumstances been different. He was just about to sit down and have another look in his bag for anything he might have missed when he heard footsteps from behind the dodgems.

'Who's there?' Josh shouted and waited for the reply, but nothing came.

He quickly rumaged in his satchel for his weapon, but as he uncovered the mp3 player he remembered what he had been given to protect himself with. Joshua knew he was a sitting duck if anyone was playing this awful game and prayed the phantom footsteps belonged to someone he could trust.

'Hello?!?' He called again.

'Josh?' came the reply.

It was Rose, thank god it was Rose, Joshua ran forward into the arms of his best friend, his surrogate mother. He knew how much Rose had always wanted to visit a themepark and knew that even this awful situation wouldn't stop her from fulfilling that dream.

'Rose, thank God you're OK! Where's Candi?!?'

'I'm realy sorry Josh, I tired to stay with her when she followed me out of the school, but there was a lot of movement and we got separated. I know I don't totally trust Candi, but believe me I didn't leave her on purpose!' Rose could barely finish her sentence through her tears. Josh had never seen her cry in all the years they'd beeen best friends. Rose was always the strong one.

'Look don't worry Rosie, it's all going to be fine OK. What weapon have you got?'

Rose pulled out a gun and looked sheepishly at it. Neither she nor Josh knew much about guns, but they worked out it was a Glock 21, quite powerful.

'What about Candi?' Josh hoped that Candi had faired better than himself, at least then she might be able to defend herself.

'She had a sword of some kind, and a big one at that.' Rose answered.
That was OK then, Candi would be fine. Josh hoped she would be able to bring herself to use it if the time came for it. It suddenly hit him, could he himself kill anyone?

Thankfully he didn't have long to consider the idea as his mobile phone began buzzing in his pocket.

'Who is this and how did you reach me?' He said down the telephone. It was Brian Lee, a guy Josh knew very vaguely from math class. Brian explained he was Yashin's friend and he had a plan to get a group together. The two jus finished making arrangements before the phoneline went dead. Josh put the mobile back in his bag and he and Rose sat down by the funhouse just as it buzzed again. Josh hurriedly answered the call.

'Mobile Phones are NOT allowed in class Joshua, you know that!!!'

*beep* Josh ended the call just as it rang a second time. Private Number. Josh threw the phone against one of the fun mirrors and the two shattered.

'Seven years bad luck' said Rose.

Josh laughed, it was nice to still be able to considering where he was. He pulled out his mp3 player and showed it to Rose before the two sat down to listen to some Steps classics, the only tracks on the music player.

The magical tones of 'A Deeper Shade of Blue' were suddenly interrupted by two very sharp and loud explosions followed by the sounds of guns. Josh and Rose sat up to attention, clearly some people had chosen to play the game. Josh moved slightly toward the noises, hoping Candi was miles away when he suddenly heard a gunshot from behind him. He span round to find Jonathan stood directly behind him clutching something in his hand. In his panic Josh smacked Jonathan over the head with his mp3 player, knocking him to the ground. Behind Jonathan stood Rose, gun still smoking in her hand.

'What the...?' cried Josh, was Rose playing too?

'I'm.. I'm sorry Josh, I'm sorry Jonathan. Oh God did I hit him? I'm so sorry I panicked... the noises... I thought someone was firing at us and then he appeared and I just fired.. I'm sorry!'

'It's OK Rosie, he doesn't appear hurt... except where I hit him. We have to find out what that noise was and if Candi's alright. I think it came from the school, come on!'

The two stepped over the mildly conscious Jonathan and ran toward the amusement park exit. Josh hoped the blasts had been an accident, just like Rose's, otherwise some people were taking this very seriously indeed.

Kyo had been walking a little looking around every corner to make sure nobody was behind him and then all of a sudden he saw a grenade explosion and looked and noticed two students one was Dante the other was Nick he then said 'WHOA! That was cool now watch this!' He then threw a grenade at Colton,Lenny,Soliel,Chase,Joseph,Candi and Roman as soon as he threw his grenade the explosion killed Soliel and Jospeh in an instant and he finally watched the arm of Joseph come towards him.

Kyo then sat down to rest a bit after having a dead persons arm barely missing him his head.

Ulag jumped down from the tree he was hiding in, pounced on Candi and slashed her with his Machete. Hearing the sound of gunshots and the explosion of grenades, he fled into the trees again, taking cover. Well, he thought, there will be time to get my first kill yet.

He licked the blood off the blade, returned it to his bag. He began to decide his next move...

Story: Destri Antares

It had only been a short while since Destri had left the building carrying his supply bag, but already the adrenaline was flowing through his veins from simply thinking about the situation he had been placed it. Had it been pure luck that had placed him on this island? Or was it fate's cruel sense of humor that has decided to set this upon him fo some unknown reason?

With the way his year had gone so far this interesting turn of fate seemed right on tune with his life. As for this game, he had been blessed with a pistol. Some might call this a mediocre weapon compared to such ones as the ingram mac, but he was pleased with himself. After all, at least he didn't get a pot lid...

"So" he thought to himself. "How should I look at this so called game, as a blessing, or as an answer to a morbid prayer and desire? Is this the tragic ending? Or the assisted suicide you've been longing for?" Either way it didn't matter now, whatever would happen was bound to happen.

He had decided he would venture to the H1 hex, seeing as it was the furthest away from the starting point he would technically have less of an opposition. Walking through the wet forest in the middle of the night, every noise seemed like it might be the last he'd hear. Every churp of a cricket sounding like the cocking of a weapon. Every tree swaying in the wind a merciless foe waiting to strike. He had no friends in his class. Sure some of them he got along with, they smiled back and nodded their heads whenever they crossed ways in school. But none of them he actually knew or trusted. After all he had seen what some of them were like, and it left him with a sense of doubt as to whether or not to believe any of the other 41 humans stuck here in hell with him. He had trusted before, and it had left him scarred. Which was not something he wanted to ever happen again, much less here in the wet mud on a godforsaken island.

As he arrived at his destination, he croutched down in the brush to double check his map. Yes this was it. Now where was that hidden item. He gazed into the darkness, attempting to make out a potential path in the night. Suddenly his eyes caught view of something. A lone outline glowing pale in the moonlight.

"well well" Destri pondered to himself. "Friend? Foe? Or victim? we shall see..." He called out into the darkness. "oi monkey spunk! You wanna tell me who you are or let my gun be the judge?!"

Joshua sat quietly in the clinic.  He was so angry at himself for taking the wrong turn in sector H5, the wrong turn that had meant he wasn't able to get to the school and to Candi.  At least now he and Rose were with Eli, Brian and Yashin.  Staying in a group was definitely the best idea, it meant you had someone to watch your back and at least he could get some sleep now.

Josh was just settling down for a rest, when the noises started again… gunshots and a further explosion.  Why the hell were people actually playing this?  Josh fingered the small blade in his hand.  He had cut his leg on it as he ran from the amusement park and so had stopped to check what it was.  An old lawnmower blade had seemed like a better defence weapon than an mp3 player, especially an mp3 player with dead batteries, so he had picked it up.

He looked over at Rose who was drifting off to sleep opposite him and thanked whatever deity was up there that they at least had found each other.  Josh crossed and sat by her side, stroking her hair.  Rose would always protect him, she was strong and the two were like family.  Then the thought occurred to Josh for the first time, though he knew it wouldn’t be the last; ‘What happens if she and I are the last two left?  Do I kill her or does she kill me?’  Josh wasn’t comfortable with either option and put the thought behind him as he heard gunshots from just outside.

Josh rushed out through the door and tripped over something just in front of the clinic.  He looked over and realised it was the expired body of Lenny Jazz.  It was the first time Joshua had seen a proper corpse, in spite of the fact that his life had been full of death, and he wasn’t ready for the impact it had on him.  More gunshots and then someone bumped into Josh.  It was Daiske Niwa, clutching a gun.  Josh thrust out the lawnmower blade and made two swipes at Daiske Niwa, not entirely sure if either made contact.  He looked past the nearest student and saw the other three lads attacking him with whatever weapons they had.  Clearly Niwa had attacked Lenny and the other three were retaliating.

Joshua saw Jonathan appear from behind, he must have stalked Josh and Rose here.  Jon ran out and hit Daiske with his GPS.  He quickly doubled back and grabbed Lenny’s Molotov cocktails before heading off into the undergrowth.  Joshua followed his path and spotted Rose stood at the door of the clinic, blankly surveying the scene.  Before he knew what he was doing, Josh cried out ‘Shoot Daiske, Rose! Just fire!!’  Two cracks came from the end of Rose’s Glock and Daiske hit the floor.

The dust settled and the five looked at each other.  Each knew that Daiske was dead, but who finished him off?  It didn’t matter now, it was over, but everyone had a death on their conscience.  Professor Dayton’s voice broke the silence, ‘What a very busy first round we’ve been having.  Here is the list of your friends in the order they died.’  Josh tried to ignore Dayton as he spoke; Joseph, Soliel, but then it came… Candi.  No wave of sadness hit Joshua, he just went numb.  It was an odd feeling.  Was he too becoming a part of the game?

At least helmets made getting shot in the chest kind of funny. Probably not for the body crumpled half-way down the cliff, but Kishu intended to see if he couldn't have a little more character than that. He dangled his legs, swung his nunchuka in circles, and tried to work out how frightened the student behind him was.

"Who're you?"

"Kishu Heisuke." He turned slowly, feeling a grin possess his face when he saw the pistol. The student, Destri Antares, saw the grin, and pulled back the hammer. "Don't worry. I just smile, 'cos bad things happen to me when I stop. Like getting thrown back into this, when I started taking the wrong tone of voice about my last pass through the meatgrinder."

"Is that so?" The gun stayed where it was.

"We'd have a better chance getting through this toghether. So long as you're prepared to take the right line with anyone that starts playing in our direction-they'll be serious, and so will I."

The tough, but compassionate veteran...Kishu would've bowed to imaginary appluase, if it wouldn't have ruined the act. He tacked something on to give the further impression he was better with the piece of ninja-crap they'd given him than he actually was-never good to let anyone think you need them.

Destri loped over to the cliff-top, his eyes on Kishu all the while. He peered over, then fixed the other boy with a stare that had precious little fear.

"I'll tell you what, I won't hurt you. Provided that you don't hurt me or take that helmet. If you do then suddenly you'll be the only thing that I'll worry about killing before my eventual demise or victory."

Tough and ruthless...never a good idea to act at the real thing. Kishu peered idly off the cliff, then swiped at Destri's legs as he pushed off. He dropped onto the ledge, pressing in as a bullet thwacked past his body, into the sea. He looked down a hundred feet at the waves, and smiled like the Bisto kid. He'd won Battle Royale, and nothing could hurt him.

He quickly pulled the helmet off the corpse, and fumbled it on as he crawled down the ledge. Destri would be waiting at the end...he might have to be quick.

Dante's ears were ringing from the blast of the grenades. He looked around to see that Soleil and Joseph were lying on the ground. Their limbs were askew and they weren't moving. They were obviously dead. Some of the other students were hurt as well. Lenny, Chase, Candi, Roman, and Colton were bloodied as well, but they were still alive.

Chris was beating flames from his arm. He had been hit with a maltov cocktail, thrown by Soleil. Dante could see in Chris's eyes that he wanted to get revenge but Soleil was dead already from the blast.

That's when the students began to scatter. Lenny ran forward and scooped up the maltov cocktails that were lying beside Soleil's dead body. In the process he dropped his chain. Colton, saw the pistol lying beside Joseph's body and decided it was a better weapon than his wire coat hanger. Jordan had the same idea and dove for the pistol as well. Jordan grabbed it before Colton could touch it. Colton threw away his hanger and picked up the chain that Lenny dropped.

Dante saw that Lenny and Colton ran in different directions. He also saw that Charlie ran away as well. He must have been scared to death. Candi also began to run. There was a crack of a pistol and she sprawled across the dusty ground. It was Chris who shot her.

Chase and Roman were the only ones left. They stood there stock still as some of the other students approached them. They pleaded with the others. They said they could make an alliance together that they could be useful. Dante felt so sorry that he had to kill them. It was either them or him.

Suddenly, to everyone's surprise, another grenade was lobbed into the crowd. The students, having experienced two grenade blasts knew what was coming. The all jumped for cover. Only Roman and Chase were too slow, they were to injured to much of anything.

When the smoke cleared, Roman and Chase lay crumpled on the ground. Kyo walked out of the shadows. He was grinning. He was actually enjoying this.

Dante knew this was only the beginning. There were going to be more fights. There had to be, that's how this game operated. After this, things weren't going to be so easy. People wouldn't be lulled into trying peaceful measures by his good reputation anymore. Things were going to get bad. His friends were going to die. The nightmare was only beginning.

Kyo walked around and saw dead bodies everywhere the blood of Roman was stained on his shirt.

'Wow....' Kyo thought 'This area is a bloodbath' Kyo knew that he may or may not survive but in a weird way it was fun.

The grenade hit Chase so hard that his body was nowhere to be found when Roman was hit he let out a painful bone chilling scream that could be herad around the whole island.

Kyo's last grenade killed Roman and Chase Kyo then started thinking 'I've killed 4 people but i don't feel bad.' Kyo knew if he didn't kill them they would've killed him.

While walking Kyo saw Candi's body she had been stabbed and shot twice but then all of a sudden Kyo saw a silver sharp object near her and picked it up and then saw it was a sword Kyo then thought 'Hmmmmm what a nice weapon'

As Irish approached the figure, the person turned around and spun his nail gun. Irish knew he was done, but suddenly Tommie jumped out from behind the tree and attacked the new figure. Tommie thrust the dagger into the side of this person who was seemingly going to attack Irish. Suddenly Tommie ran off, to the amazment of Irish Kenji was still standing after the attack. Now Kenji was pointing the nailgun at Irish and he said,"Is he with you? Answer me or I'll kill you!" Irish quickly responded with,"I thought he was, but not anymore. We had an alliance and I was supposed to come over to talk, but he attacked you." Kenji shot *beep* how do I know you're not lying?" Irish answered,"Because I walked over to talk, and my weapon is lying over there. Look, I don't know why he attacked you but I know now that I can't trust him. You and I should hunt him down and make him pay before he does the same thing to me." Kenji lowered his nailgun and said,"Let me guess, you know where he's going, right?" "Exactly," he said. As the two started to walk off, all Irish could think about is the backup plan he had with Tommie. Tommie was trying to protect him, and he put his own life in danger in the process and there was no way that Irish was going to stab him in the back. But he also knew that he must not get too close to his new target, otherwise killing him will be harder. So, Kenji was now walking into a trap set up by Tommie and Irish. And he'll never see it coming

As the days passed, Irish Ryan knew that it was almost time to meet at the backup plan point. He kept himself distant from Kenji, knowing that he was leading him into a deathtrap. Kenji asked,"So what do you think you'll do if you get out?" Irish answered,"I don't think that far ahead, that type of thinking will get you killed." Maybe a little bit too much of the truth, but it had to be said. Suddenly, Irish noticed a flock of birds in a tree fly off, followed by a quick thump in the ground. He knew this was the spot of the ensuing murder of Kenji, but did Tommie turn on him and bring someone else to do the job on Irish as well? Suddenly, a dark figure up ahead darted in front and shot at Irish and Kenji. Both of them winced, but Irish noticed he was unscathed. Kenji on the otherhand was very wounded now kneeling on the ground. Irish watched and saw every bullet pierce Kenji's body like it just happened, but he didn't really see it. Nevertheless Kenji was going to die but it was just a matter of time. Tommie walks out from a nearby bush and says,"I guess the plan worked, huh?" Irish looked back and said,"I thought that some of those bullets you had might have hit me, who did you kill to get that gun by the way?" Tommie looked ahead on the path and saw McGuire walking towards him. "I found him walking around while I was in a tree on this hex, i asked him about an alliance and he jumped on the idea." Suddenly Kenji springs forward and shoots a nail into Tommie's shoulder, but Tommie quickly sprung back and thrusted the knife in Kenji's stomach. Irish saw enough, Kenji was still alive after all of this pain, he knew it was time to end it. He quickly picked up his cricket bat and swung it for the first time in the game. If Kenji's head was a baseball Irish would have hit a home run, but the sound of the cracking skull was enough for Irish to know that Kenji was finally done. He dropped his bat and stared into the distance thinking of what happened. Irish turns around to see the scattered remains of Kenji's head splattered on the ground next to his shoes. He is just as guilty as everyone else, and there was no way to get around it. He walked over to Kenji to wipe the blood splatter off of the bat onto Kenji's shirt. McGuire Diehl interjects,"I know of a couple of people we can trust, they are with me." Irish just nods, he had to trust someone who could've easily killed him just now. Tommie then says,"We have learned of an alliance that amounts to five or six people. What do you think we should to?" Irish starts to think but then immediately McGuire interjects,"We should go to the school, with all of the dead bodies there I'm sure we could get some guns." So that was the move they were going to take, but the only thing that Irish could think about was Kenji's lead-filled, stabbed, and now headless corpse.

After Dayton had announced the names of recently deceased students and the new danger zones, Brian said to his teammates, "Meet me in the office in 5 minutes." He then safed his AK, slung it behind his back and picked up Daisuke's MAC-10. He pulled out the magazine and counted the number of .45ACP rounds that were left in the mag. He then inserted the rounds back into the mag, pocketed the half-empty mag, took a fresh magazine from Daisuke's bag, slapped it into the magazine port, and safed the MAC-10. He then headed to the office with Daisuke's bag and the MAC-10 and brought out the map, making sure to mark down where the danger zones are, and crossing off the names of the deceased on his class list.

After a few minutes, he and his team were sitting around a table in the office, discussing their next move. He started by saying, "First of all, I'm going hand over the MAC-10 to Yashin, since he has requested that he gets it." He then handed Yashin Daisuke's bag and the MAC-10, "the spare ammo's in the bag. And Rose, you'll be sharing ammo with Yashin." He then handed her the half-empty magazine from his pocket, "There's 14 rounds in here. Just pull them out of the magazine and put them in your pockets. Now, let's decide where to go...." He was then interrupted by the vibration of his cell phone (OOC: I always set my phone to vibrate rather than ring.), "Who the hell could be calling me when I'm trying plan something. Hello?"

Kyo looked at his brand new samurai sword spotless 'Hm Candi must've been a poor weak student' Kyo said.

After killing Kyo was just plain tired while resting he heard gunshots and he woke up 'What the??' He thought the gunshots sounded faint but loud at the same time.

Kyo rested once again except this time in a tree. Even if the rest was only 30 minutes it was nice.

Dayton announced the names of the fallen students 'Well that's all i needed to know.' Kyo moved on running felling better becase of the rest.

Marla swore she could hear killing. Sitting, rocking backwards then forwards then backwards again, she swore that she could hear it. It was in her brain, in her mind... the screams. Her screams. Their screams.

Still sitting outside the school she cried, she didn't know what to do or where to go. She ran her hands around the bracelets she was wearing, taking in their intricate design over and over. Her was mush now, all rational thoughts had gone flying out of there.

"I don't want to see the dead... I don't want to see the dead... I don't want to see the dead... I don't want to see the dead" Marla's thoughts raced. "Too scared to move, no... I have to move." She put on her backpack. Breathe in... Breathe out...

Then she took off running.

Dante was getting worried. Time was running out and the danger zones were adding up. Several more of the students had died in the past hours. He looked around his group. Some of them had formidable weapons. There were a couple guns in the group. He looked down to his tire iron. Compared to other weapons, it was a little pathetic.

"Guys we need to split up," Dante said.

"Why?" Eli asked.

"I think we need to go scouting for weapons. Things are going to get worse before they get better," Dante exalained.

He suggest that they split up into two groups.

Dante would take one team in a northern route while Kat and some of the others took to the west. Dante was about to walk away when Kat pulled him to the side. "Dante, I don't completely trust Eli. He betrayed Brian, what's to keep him from doing the same to us? He does have that Ingram," Kat reminded him.

"You're right Kat. If he does anything suspicious, you what to do. The welfare of the group must be the first priority," Dante said.

Kat nodded in grim agreement.

Dante couldn't believe what he had done. He had told Kat to kill Eli if he was acting funny. Eli was normally a quiet guy who liked to stay off to himself. This twisted game had changed it. It brought out his deeper nature. It showed that Eli was nothing but a coniving rat.

So what did that make Dante? Dante had called out to the other students at the school to draw them closer for the attack. Was Dante a rat just like Eli? It was too late to question his actions. He couldn't go back and bring those dead students to life. Once you are on that path, you can't turn around.

Dante steeled his heart and marched through the darkness. He couldn't help but lament for that innocent part of him that he had lost at the school.

Joshua wasn’t sure exactly how he had reached his current location, but here he was standing opposite Tom Riddle and his group of comrades.  He looked round and saw the school building just to his left and the bodies of his friends.  He must have taken a right around hex J3 which is where he thought he had seen the large group of students.  He and Rose had attacked Brian and left the group a mere few hours before, unhappy at their treatment.

Joshua stared at Tom and his mates and hoped they would live up to their word.  The agreement not to fight was obviously more in favour of Josh and Rose, so it was unlikely that Tom would live up to his end, but what else could Joshua do.  If he attacked they would surely stalk him till he was dead, so all he could do was wait.

Joshua surveyed the area and saw the bodies of his fallen classmates, people he had called friends.  That seemed like such a long time ago.  A pink top in the distance caught his eye, a top he knew very well.  Josh wretched.  He could stand a lot but seeing Candi face dawn with all those wounds was more than he could stand.  He was upset, angry, but most of all ashamed, ashamed he had been unable to protect her.  Then the sound came, a sound that made his stomach turn until he was sure it was going to fall right out of his mouth; Rose’s scream.

Josh couldn’t bear to look around; he knew what sight would greet him.  Tom’s group were no longer stood opposite him and Rose no longer stood at his side.  She lay on the floor, slashed, beaten, bruised and bleeding.  He dropped to his knees beside her and began clawing at her top.

‘Stop it! Stop it Rose! Get up!! Get up NOW!! Please…’ Josh began crying to the point where he couldn’t breathe.  It had always been him and Rose; she was the one who protected him.  She had always been at his side, making sure everything was alright, even when she was going through terrible times.  Rose was the strong one, there was no way this could finish her.  She would get up any minute.

Joshua waited, but nothing happened.  He suddenly came back to his senses and looked up to see Tom and the others. ‘You B*stards!!  What the f*ck have you done?!?  We weren’t going to attack, we just wanted to move on.  We wanted to live!  I’ll kill you!!  I’ll f*cking kill all of you!!!!’.  Josh ran toward Tom with his jack-knife out, but Tom swung down his ball and chain, striking Rose and tangling it round her now still frame.  Joshua stumbled back and fell to the ground.  He got up and he ran.

Kyo!' The teacher called out his name in math class. 'Do you want to fail math?' Kyo not realizing he fell asleep through math class.

'No' Kyo said ' I don't want to' The teacher then said 'Well I think you do!' The teacher said madly while slamming his hand against Kyo's desk. Kyo stood up pushing out his chair so hard that it fell 'It's not my fault! I didn't get to sleep cause cause....' 'Cause what?' The teacher said 'Cause' 'Cause what TELL ME!' The teacher said while grabbing Kyo's jaw Kyo was speechless.

'I thought so' The teacher said 'Pick up that chair now or i'll have to make you' Kyo picked the chair up while giving the teacher a dirty look.

The teacher grabbed Kyo by his neck and spoke these words out 'Look at me like that again and i'll slap that look off your face!' He sounded like the devil in the form of a teacher. Kyo was emotionless the teacher then said 'Leave' 'Leave now' while walking out Kyo whispered *beep* The teacher then said 'what did you say?' Kyo said 'nothing' The teacher said 'Good' 'Now get out of here' Kyo did.

Kyo thought of that moment while walking.

He thought 'I hated him he was such a bitch'.

Kyo heard gunshots he knew some was happening it was his time to leave the area to a more safer spot. Or would that spot be where they were hiding? He could only wait and see.

..One and half week ago....

???
Eisaku I want to thank you for recruiting so many saps for the Battle Royale program. Instead of teaching these brats a thing or two about the facts of life we have decided to boost our ratings instead. After Shinjirou died ratings have been at an all time low. Sokka Gakkai has fevorously been opposing our movement to re-educate the kids.

Yamakami
''As you can see it is through the efforts of the blowthristy and emotionally withdrawn that you are able to obtain such results. Here is footage of Kazuo Kiriyama kicking a girls face and then having her scream her last breath on a megaphone just before thrusting a glock into her mouth and decorating the pavement with her blood. That is what draws ratings for Battle Royale. ``

???
I`ll give you a written letter of recommendation for Keio, but there is just one thing you have to do for me. There happens to be 41 students `enlisted`.

Yamakami: Sir you don`t mean that I should apply for Battle Royale do you?

???: You don`t have to I have already enlisted you. Ok men take him away.

Yamakami: No need to use hostilities; I`ll show up. In fact you can put one of those silly collars on me for all I care. I think I could use this as research, Dayton.

Dayton: Good see to it that no one knows of the Battle Royale`s true intention. (Evil grin)

Suddenly out of nowhere a guy with a gun started to fire at Ulag. The answer came as a retort from Eisakus bloody nailgun.

Thunk Thunk Thunk went the heavy peice of Machinery into the chest of Matthew.

Ulag:``Wow, you did that without singing Kimi Gayo or Kumbayah or whatever the Japanese Emperorial anthem is. ``

Yamakami: You could say thanks...

Ulag: I will. Thanks for not boring us with a Econo-

Yamakami: Oh that reminds me... in order to progress we have been trading inferior goods with superior goods. So, so no one else tries to use the Barretta against us, I, propose that I should take off your hands. If we take scare goods we could draw more people to us an increase our demand.

Ulag: (Why did Matthew miss? I have to put up with this prick for 4 more days?) Oh whatever just thake the damn gun already.

Mario: Will you stop shouting Ulag I am trying to concentrate.

Yamakami: Uhh that could take years.

Tom: ... We should get going. There are still two to three other huge groups that want us dead.

Yamakami: Look on the bright side in the Battle Royale program we are human capitial that works till his or her end comes. We should make that end last as long as possible. When we are consider common or inferior we will meet that end.

Mario: Okay I got a plan.... uh guys.

Suddenly Mario`s longwinded train of though has finally got him in trouble.
He know that being along during the middle of a mass chain of deaths would be mayham. He need to meet back up with Eisaku and Tom`s gang befor things got hairy.

Brushle brushle

``Too late I`ve been spotted.,, Mario thought. Now what will I do? Oh well might as well make the best of this.

Yamakami: Hmm it appears that we lost our companion in his train of thought.

Ulag: Bastard! I told him it would take him years to think of something. Now what do we do.

Yamikami: Well I heard shots over here so I think the best thing to do is to try to investigate ... oh my...

Yamakami and Tom saw a mangled body, blood and a helmut. Eisaku eyed the helmut then went back to investigate the body.

``Hmm that could still be put to some use,, Eisaku pondered.

Tom: Oh look the body`s twitching. Well we will make sure he`s dead this time.
If Mario is still perhaps breathing, we will wait here.

Yamakami: Hopefully this will the proverbial isseki ni chou (Two birds with one stone) that we need to put us over the edge.

"I'm okay, guys!"
Tom, Erik, Eisaku, and Taki ran down the slope and saw their friend and partner in crime, Mario, standing over a bloody corpse of Mcguire Dehl.
"Are you sure? We heard gunshots," Taki asked as he inspected the area.
"I dodged, he didn't, the rest is history." Mario was apparently not in the mood to discuss what they got so good at - killing their classmates. "I never liked the guy anyway, and he was almost dead when I saw him, so it's not a big deal. How did you do? Did you guys get Kishu?"
Kishu's duel with Josh - an improvised fight of a lawnmower blade and an icepick - was hilarious to watch, but Kishu was stronger and had a helmet.
"No, he got away. Look what we found, though," Erik showed the helmet that Kishu had dropped to gain some mobility.
"Yeah, and we also finished off Josh," said Eisaku while sitting on a nearby rock and eating a sandwich. ("Where did he get the sandwich? And how can he eat in front of three dead bodies?" wondered Tom.) "'t was kinda tricky, though - what with Ulag forgetting we had to attack and going to bed early."
"For the last time - my name is Taki! And at least I didn't end up shooting birds." ("Okay, now I definitely don't want to know anything about that sandwich," flashed in Tom's mind.)
"Stop fighting, you two!" Mario stood between them. "There's something you need to know. Just before I killed Mcguire, he told me that there is another group of students playing the game..."
"Big deal!" mumbled Eisaku while finishing off his sandwich.
"...and there are ten students in it."
Their jaws hit the floor simultaneously. Five childhood friends, they had no trouble meeting next to the school, agreeing to play the game together, and being quite good at it, but they had no idea their opponents were that strong.
"Wait, wait, did he say anything else?" Erik was the first one to regain his ability to speak.
"Well, he had a short span there, but he made sure to tell me that Nick Taylor was in charge, and he and his cronies had a grenade. And the creepiest part was that he didn't use that grenade when Mcguire and his two friends attacked him."
"Does this... does this mean he is saving it for us?" Taki's eyes were wide as saucers.
"It does. But it also means something else. Something much worse," Tom said from the back.
"Could you _please_ stop this, Riddle? We're about to die here - could you just talk in plain English like the rest of us?"
"If you insist." He pulled out his map: "According to the last announcement, we are at the halfway point, there are 18 students remaining. Now, there's five of us, three loners on the free hexes, and ten of them. Even if Nick and his team manage to kill the other eight players with that grenade of his, do you really think that they will have a nice gentlemanly battle to see who gets to go home?"
"Holy guacamole." Taki looked even more frightened than he had before.
"Damn." Mario could be quite laconic on occasion.
"No, he can't do that. He just can't!" exclaimed Erik.
"I don't get it," Eisaku said with a confused look on his face.
"Okay, let me walk you through this," Tom said with a patient look on his face. Nick has the most powerful weapon on this island - a military grenade. Loners aside, it's just us, he and his cronies (it was a common knowledge that Nick, Chris, Charlie, and Dante were bullies), and six kids who ended up on his team."
"So?"
"So he will use the grenade on all but his gang, and then the four of them will finish off the survivors... Do you understand now?"
The look on Eisaku's face was the answer. "I would never attack no one with their back turned on me. Especially if they're fighting for me.."
"So what can we do? What can _they_ do?" Erik's voice broke the silence.
"Well, they can run away and join us - at least this way they won't be killed by the 'friendly fire'. That, however, is pretty unlikely. Or they can attack Nick and get the grenade for themselves, but I don't think they would go for it, either."
Neither of them said anything for a long time. They just sat there, watching the sunset color the sky bloody-red, and trying to think of a way to avoid the unnecessary bloodshed. Five hypocrite murderers. A funny-looking cloud that bore an eerie resemblance to a cross made a peculiar contrast - the white against the red.
Finally, Tom raised his head. "Do you know what this means?.."

Hmm Were are perhaps out of options.* Eisaku grubled while he was scarfing down the remains of his tomato sandwish. Luckily the last victim had it stored away in his obentou.

(Wait a sec... thats not a TOMATO?!)

Eisaku:Well I say we do this... Since the chances of all of us living is ... well none. I say we all go in and pear head this almighty gernade holder. To hold the gernade is to ask for an early death anyways.

He we have a chance who ever gets the gernade should probably use it immeditely since the death count would be higher. That way we can maximize our productivity.

Mario: How can you think of Economics at a time like this??

Eisaku: Why don`t you ask Napolean the same question about statistics since he was such a pro at toppling countries? That red sun over there marks one less die on this island and one day closer to our demise. It is simple we go in take the gernade or get blown up trying. What`s there to think about?

Ulag: For once what your rambling about makes sense. Nick will pay for taking my lunch money at school. And for placing a raw egg atop my head and giving me a wedgie.

Tom: Well that`s that. Shall we go?

'Joshua sat for a second.  He could feel the pain in his side worsening.  It was bound to be infected, that was probably what was making him so thirsty.  The last few days seemed oddly disconnected from what was happening now.  He thought back to Rose and Candi and how long ago he had been with them; it was almost as if they had never existed. Josh slapped himself.  How could he ever think that, Rose and Candi had meant more to him than anything, more than whether he himself lived or died; or at least that what he used to think.

It was that Tom’s fault.  He’d always seemed like a nice enough lad in class, but this situation taught you the truth about people.  It had certainly taught Joshua about himself.  He looked at his wounds.  Who would have ever thought that he would have survived being shot once, never mind three times!  He wandered aimlessly forward.  He had left Rose all alone so that he could save himself.  Rose hated being alone, how could he do that to her?

Josh looked up and noticed the lighthouse ahead of him.  Last time he was here it had been under much easier circumstances.  He remembered a past Battle Royale he had read about in the newspapers and the tale of the lighthouse girls.  It wasn’t a pleasant story and the lighthouse now represented death in his mind.  He looked ahead and saw a figure stood by the door to the building.  Who now?

‘And you are?’  Joshua didn’t recognise the person in front of him.

‘I’m sorry but I don’t think I remember your name.  You are in my class right cause I’m sure we’re the ones supposed to be here.’

There was no reply.  Joshua could feel himself burning up.  The pain was wearing off now, but the heat radiating from him was unbearable.

‘I’m really sorry if I’m trespassing, but I have to have a drink of water.  Can I use your house?’ Josh shouted to the now approaching figure.

When no reply came again, Josh moved toward the open door, heading for the kitchen.  It seemed at first that the unknown was going to pass Josh right by, but at the last minute he leapt forward with a blade, aiming for Joshua’s throat.  Almost out of instinct Josh pulled out his ice pick and forced it into the guy’s shoulder.  It stuck.  The mystery man wrenched the pick from his arm and threw it down toward Josh before running off.  ‘Pussy’, Josh thought.

The water didn’t seem to do any good at quenching Josh’s thirst.  He could feel the strength slowly leaving his body and thanked God that at least Candi and Rose had gone quickly; no-one should have to suffer this.  He heard movement at the bottom of the stairs and turned to find Tom and his gang at the door.  F*ck.

Josh half-heartedly raised his ice pick only to have it shot out of his hand.  He sat down at the table; he was beat.  Tom approached with his circle saw blade ready to strike and thrust it forward, cutting Josh’s chest.  Josh stood up and felt a searing pain in his back.  He turned to find Erik with his K-bar knife and ever pun about ‘back-stabbing’ flashed through his mind.

‘So I’m to become another lighthouse cautionary tale’ he thought to himself.

Josh fell forward onto the kitchen table and lay there.  He felt sleepy now.  He would just close his eyes for a second.  He thought of all the students in his class and how many had fallen before him.  He had been keeping count and it was roughly half.

‘Great’ he thought to himself, ‘I’m mediocre’.  And with that, he died.'

Their group had come a long way through the treacherous perils of the game. They had split up and then rejoined each other after searching for some extra weapons and attacking some of the students who were alone and hurt. As much as they hated to do it, they had to. They had made a pact. They would stand by each other until the end.

It had been especially hard on Noelle. She had taken part in killing Vincent. He had joined the alliance in the beginning with her. They had been friends in the school's marching band together. Earlier in the game he had left the alliance refusing to take part in their bloodbath. "If I see you guys again, you'll live to regret it," were Vincent's words before he left.

When the group came upon him, the regretfully had to eliminate him. He had left the alliance and would prove a threat to them. Noelle fired a shot into his back. When he landed with a thud on the ground, she turned away so noone could see her crying.

A little later, Dante pulled Kat aside. "While you were alone with Eli, did he do anything funny?" Dante asked.

Kat shook her head and replied, "No he didn't. He went along with the team."

Dante looked at Eli. Eli had seemed friendly enough in class. Truth be told, Dante was intimidated by him. All of his tattoos and piercings, Eli didn't really fit into Dante's clique of overachievers. "Still keep an eye on him," Dante suggested.

Dante walked over to Nick. "How's it hanging big guy?" Dante joked.

"Your girlfriend knows the answer to that," Nick shot back with a playful grin.

"I'm glad you can keep a sense of humor about yourself in this situation," Dante said.

"When we get out of here, your girlfriend will tell you," Nick joked again.

Nick was Dante's best friend. He was glad that Nick tried to keep up the morale by joking but he knew that only one would survive. Kyo looked around the group.

Kyo and Kim were standing together. They seemed to be a bit close. Kim was into the rocker-girl style while Kyo was into martial arts. She was extroverted while he was introvered. They do say that opposites attract after all.

Charlie was sitting on stump. She was badly injured. Her sickle was sitting on the ground beside her and she was picking at the makeshift bandages on her wounds. Her fiery personality had calmed down a lot in the past two days. There were about 12 hours left in the game. For some, their pain would be ending before that.

Suddenly, Jordan and Chris ran forward. "There's a group coming!" Jordan almost shouted.

"It's Tom and his friends," Chris added.

Chris, Jordan, and Ulag were in a group scouting ahead of them. "Where's Ulag? Is he hurt?" Nick asked.

"He's hiding in a tree. He wanted to do some guerrila warfare," Jordan said.

Nick cursed. Dante knew that Ulag might have been enjoying the killing a little. Ulag had gotten more wild and reckless as the game had progress.

In the pale light of the slowly rising sun, Tom's group emerged from the forest. Their eyes widened as they saw the group before them. Nick acted quickly and threw his grenade into the midst of Tom's group. They jumped out of the way. Only Taki and Brian were unlucky enough to be caught in the blast. Mario was also hit but he suffered a horrible burn across his face.

The rest of Tom's group gained their bearings and raised their pistols. They each fired. Their bullets caught Nick in the chest. His eyes went wide with suprise. Nick swayed for a moment and then fell over.

"NOOOOOO!" Dante yelled.

Just a few moments ago, Dante's best friend had been joking with him about cheating with his girlfriend. Now he was dead.

Ulag licked the blood off his Machete and cursed. How could he give Erik a good wound but still not kill him? This was getting frustrating. Ulag only had a couple of kills, despite having survived this far. He hated to leave a job half done. He shouted out in anger, "Erik! I'm coming for you" before rushing off after him.

This is it the end of the game was finally coming." Kyo said in a low voice.

Gunshots were being fired everywhere. Kyo saw Kishu running from Chris Kishu outran Chris barely but one of the shots Chris had fired had skinned Kishu's Cheek.Even though he outran Chris Kishu had tripped on a log he didn't see and hit his head on Dante's mace. Kishu holding his head could not see very well now and unfortunately landed on Eli. Eli luckily didn't notice cause he was to busy in the battle.

But luck ran out for Kishu when Kat Yelled "Eli watch out! Kishu is right below you!" Kat then fired a arrow at Kishu but missed. Kishu then tried to run from Eli but noticed Kat in front of him he looked in back and there stood Eli raising up his gun Kishu then screamed as the bullets when through him one by one. One of the bullets hit Kishu's head causing his head to burst open and his brain to splatter on the clothes of Eli.

Kishu's life had ended..

".....Die......." Kyo had heard a low voice he turned around realizing it was Eisaku's voice. Eisaku had his gun pointing at Kyo.

BANG Eisaku fired his gun as it hit Kyo's leg. Kyo then bent down to feel the gunshot wound. While doing this Eisaku fired again but this time missing.

"Eisaku you won't get away with that" Kyo charged at Eisaku slicing off a piece of his flesh Eisaku was bleeding badly. "I told you I wouldn't let you get away with that" Kyo said while walking away from Eisaku. Kyo turned around to see Eisaku grabbing his body where he was cut. Kyo saw Kim rushing over to Eisaku Eisaku looked up at Kim as she picked her axe up. Kim hit Eisaku with her axe so hard that it split his face all the way the to his chin.

"Wow" Kyo thought that must of hurt.

"EISAKU!!!!!" Mario yelled.

Mario gave Kyo the look of death. "I'll kill you!!!!" Mario yelled at Kyo he fired off his gun rapidly. Kyo fell to the ground "Damn you Mario "As soon as I get up I'm gonna murder you! I'm gonna chop you to bits and send them to your family!" Kyo couldn't believe what he was saying. "Yeah right" Mario said.

Kyo looked around and saw people fighting. He looked at Mario who was talking to a student. Kyo couldn't recoginize the student at first but then found out it was Erik. "Die" Erik whispered to Kyo he fired off his ak 47 Kyo fell to the ground he was bleeding heavily. "Hey Erik can I finish him off" "Yeah sure why not" Kyo looked at Mario as he pulled out his gun.

Kyo thought "This is it I'm gonna die" Mario had his finger on the trigger but then out of nowhere Ulag and Noelle came Noelle had killed Mario when Noelle fired the his gun Mario's blood flew onto Kyo's face. Ulag then hit Erik with his machete Erik ran yelling "I'll get you Kyo" Ulag and Noelle chased after him.

Kyo finally was able to get up he was bleeding badly but he could live he started to move on to a new location.

Kyo walked and walked then he finally did it he got away from the fighting but not for long........ Kyo looked down and saw the students fighting it was a mess "Pure Chaos" is what Kyo said. Kyo felt like he was tortured to death being pierced with bullet wasn't fun. Kyo laid down and closed his eyes thinking he was free for awhile.

Well he thought......

Kyo opened his eyes to see a bloodstained Erik standing right in front of him. Kyo jumped up to see his whole body cut up and bleeding his regular class t shirt was ripped.

"What are you doing here Erik I thought you died?"

"You thought wrong"

Erik pulled his gun up facing Kyo's chest Kyo pulled out his gun quickly. Erik and Kyo both had they're gun's pointing at each other. Both with they're fingers on the triggers Kyo shot the gun before Erik did even though he had the advantage Erik still fired his gun off rapidly hitting Kyo many times.

They both fell back each of them pretty much dead.... Kyo barely stood up he saw Erik bleeding.

"I Tol....d...y..ou...I I I I....wo...u..l...d k..i...ll y...o...u...." "Not really" Kyo said

Bang Kyo fired a bullet into Erik's skull..

Kyo stood on top of the hill while covering his stomach even though unable to talk very good he disrupted the battle below.

"Lo.ok i'..m st.i.l.l a...live taking his hand off his stomach reavealed a horrible scar everyone looked shocked.

Kyo then turned away and fell on his knees.

"Ugh...... is t..his the e...n..d for me?"

Kyo looked straight at the beautiful sunset. The game was over he finally reached his goal. "Did I want to die was this how it was supposed to be?" he dropped his gun He looked at the sun again

"I'll be joining everyone soon."

"Hopefully everyone we'll meet again somewhere where we don't have to kill eachother. This is it my Sunset Farewell."

Kyo had died....

Ulag watched on as the students fought. He was stood in safety away from the fighting, taking it all in. He watched another 3 students fall, counted the remainder. "Only 8 of us left.. this is it I guess, the final showdown."

Ulag looked down at himself, realised he was shaking. He had killed. Not many, only 2 students. But it was enough. Being Buddhist, it went against all he believed in, yet it had come so natually. "Well, I'm sure the Dalai Lama would do the same in my position, *beep* it"

Ulag had swapped his machete for a sword, though he didn't like the feel of it. He drew the sword from it's sheath, examined it in the light then resheathed it. He looked at the blood on his clothes, none of it his. He'd been fortunate to survive this far without being attacked though he figured the luck was about to run dry. "So long guys, one way or another" he said, before running off in the direction of the fighting.

He still had legs, and a torso. Without the dead weight he could've scuttled away on his hands, like one of the Walking Machines in that American film someone had smuggled into the orphanage. Happy thought.
(When it got found, nobody ratted the owner, except him. Best decision of his life-practically nothing to do for years, but fight).
So many kids, how'd they have time to gang up on him? Might've still been a group...too slow, Kishu, got too slow. You ran too much, stopped thinking right. No second win.

Ulag changed his mind while running. Why join the others when it increased the chances of death. He looked around then ran back to where he came from. Sometimes he thought he was hallucinating, seeing things in the undergrowth, but then he realised nothing was there. He ran out from past some bushes and nearly stumbled into Noelle.

"It is time. I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer." And with that, he took out the sword from it's sheath and held it up.

"Noelle, prepare to die..."

*some time later*  ......

Ulag had been struggling with a wound that he had received. He left the dangerzone and returned to the scene of that battle. When he looked up, he saw several other students waiting there for. "Aw *beep* I guess this is it"

Noelle's gun fired, and Ulag stumbled back a few paces. He put a hand to the hole in his stomach. He looked up at Noelle, at Chris who had missed him.

"The fight begun does not end until the end." He then withdrew his samarai sword from it's sheath, tapped the tip against his head then plunged the blade dip into his chest. And with that, he fell and died, another victim of the BR program.

The carnage was beyond all imagination. Dante never would have dreamed it could have come to this. There were only a few of them left. Most of his alliance was still intact and only a few "enemies" remained. How could he reduce it so simply? They weren't enemies, they were his classmates.

Some of his alliance ran off after Erik. "Looks like it's just us," Eli said.

Everyone's eyes diverted to him. He raised the Ingram. Suddenly, there were shots fired from everywhere. Kat fired her crossbow at Eli, the bolt striking him in the stomach. Eli's gun rattled off so many rounds that ripped their way up Kat's legs to her chest. In the fray, Chris and Jordan fired their pistols at Kat. Dante rushed at Eli and slammed the mace into his back. Eli went down and everyone knew he wasn't going to be getting back up. They were all on edge now. They were waiting for the next shot to be fired.

"Hold your fire! We four can band together till the end. We go with Noelle, Kyo and Ulag. We can take them out and then it'll be just us," Dante suggested.

"You would sell them out that easily?" Kim demanded.

It was true. Dante was getting scared. He knew that if he could keep his alliance strong and keep someone else as the enemy he would be safe.

"If we take them out, that means we can stay alive that much longer," Dante shot back quickly.

"Coward!" Spat Jordan.

"Are you in or out?" Dante demanded.

One by one they agreed. They began to stalk after Kyo, Noelle and Ulag. Before they left, Dante shucked off Eli's bulletproof vest and took it for himself.

They came along to find that Kyo had been killed by Erik and that Ulag was badly injured by Erik by that time as well. As they approached, Ulag committed suicide upon his own sword. Noelle was shaking. She had endured a horrible battle. Luckily, she wouldn't live much to dwell on the atrocities she committed. Jordan and Chris shot her in the back with their pistols.

Everyone else was dead. "So here we are," Chris said.

"The Final Four," Jordan added.

They all raised their weapons in an instant. Dante was never so scared in his life. He knew that he could die. He knew he would die. They all turned on Jordan. Dante didn't know why. He just noticed that they all ganged up on Jordan in a mob mentality. Jordan was out of the game. Three to go.

Kim smiled to Dante. She thought he was going to help her. She was wrong. He and Chris rushed upon her. Dante crushed her skull while Chris shot her twice in the stomach. Two to go.

Dante and Chris stood facing each other. They were panting heavily. Chris had alreay been injured. Dante was drained completely. Dante thought back to the beginning when he stood upon the boulder and called out to everyone, bringing them near. He knew what made him do it. He realized the truth.

Dante charged forward, mace raised high. Chris shot him in the right side of the chest. To his suprise, the bullet went through the vest and penetrated his flesh. "Guh..." Dante grunted.

"Armor piercing bullets," Chris said.

Dante staggered. He couldn't wait for another opportunity. He ran forward screming in rage and pain and terror. Chris fired once more this time hitting Dante in the arm. Dante fell down hard on the ground. He looked to his side. There was Kat's crossbow. Who brought it here?

When Chris fired again Dante rolled and grabbed the crossbow. He shot the crossbow. Chris stopped in his tracks. The arrow lodged in his neck. He swayed and hit the ground.

After a few moments Professor Dayton came across the intercoms, "Well done, my boy. You are the winner of this year's Battle Royale."

The soldiers came in a helicoptor and picked up Dante. Professor Dayton was in the chopper as well. He was grinning like a little boy on Christmas morning. "Well dont, well done. Forming such an alliance was brilliant and daring. Getting Eli to defect to your team was ingenious but risky. When you stepped up on that boulder in the beginning of the game and called out to everyone, I told myself; 'Dante will either make it very far or get killed right off.' I said that. Really."

Dante wasn't interested in talking. The sun was coming up as the chopper flew and Dante could imagine all the bodies strewn across the island. "What was your strategy? How did you come up with conning all those students to come near you?" Dayton asked.

Dante didn't have to think. He had realized the answer to this already. He knew the reason why he called out to all his friends and then killed them, betraying them. He knew why he formed a large group. A large number of bodies to protect him from bullets.

"Cowardice," Dante said simply.
